Space travel is not new. Various galactic governments have existed for millions of years now. One thing has stayed the same, though: the need for corvallium, the mineral that makes faster-than-light travel possible. The most abundant resource of corvallium is Planet G.
Planet G is the sole planet in the galaxy controlled by the tcha species. In most of the galaxy, tcha are at best lower-class, and are often slaves. But Planet G was the site of the Tcha Rebellion. About three hundred Union Standard Years ago, the slaves of Planet G (which was at the time controlled by the Oelschian Galactic Hegemony) were led in revolt by a charismatic messiah-figure called Urum the Ancestor-Speaker. Losing control of Planet G broke the Oelschian empire, leading to the chaos from which the Planetary Union was formed.
Urum’s rebellion led to a brief movement towards greater rights for the tcha species, but ultimately they backslid into the poverty and powerlessness they had known for so many years. On Planet G, however, Urum’s descendants held control, forming a dynasty made rich and powerful by its near-monopoly on corvallium.
Needless to say, there is a constant cold war raging over influence on Planet G. The Planetary Union recognizes the sovereignty of the Urum Lineage, but many other galactic powers (the Hawb Alliance, the Illithid Reach, various rogue planets) aren’t so scrupulous…
